Achieving Your Desired Outcomes

The New Year is here! It is a good time to set your intentions and put the actions in place which will help you reach your desired outcomes in 2012 and beyond.

Success is a function of taking action.  Taking action is a function of the structures you put in place to get there. Often this comes down to planning and scheduling.  In short, write it down and schedule “by when” dates to help you get there!

Transferring your action items into some kind of scheduling system is a critical step which is often overlooked.  It is important to develop the habit of writing your weekly actions and then transferring those actions to your scheduling system. Put your action items into existence via your scheduling system and keep them there until you reach your outcomes.

To assist you, we have included a Weekly Action Plan Template Tool (PDF verson) for you to use. It has categories such as health, relationships, finance, creativity, career, and other. Each week, write the outcomes you would like to achieve in each of those areas.

Next, write the specific actions (e.g. send email, call someone, research a topic, enroll in a class, etc.) you will take that week in order to reach your desired outcomes, as well as the “By When” dates for each of those actions. Finally, transfer those action items to your scheduling system and put a check mark in the box provided after you have transferred the item to your scheduling system.

In addition to the Weekly Action Planning Template, another structure which can help you reach your desired outcomes is the Beyond Belief Membership. This monthly membership provides tools, inspiring interviews, and resources, which are designed to support you in reaching your desired outcomes.

Here are some actions you can take to make 2012 a successful and productive year:

  1. Make a list of at least 2 things you want to BE, DO or HAVE in 2012.
  2. Complete the Weekly Action Plan Template for the first week of 2012 and continue this practice for each week thereafter.
    1. Write your Desired Outcomes for the week at the top of the page for Health, Relationships, Finance, Career, Creativity, Other.
    2. Write the Actions you will do today, tomorrow and this week to reach your desired outcomes
    3. Write the By When Dates for when you intend to complete those actions
    4. Transfer your actions to your scheduling system and check the action items off as you do this.
    5. Write what you have accomplished from the previous week.
    6. Write what you are grateful for in your life.
